The Weekly Edit
Happy Super Bowl Sunday to all those who celebrate!
I am currently nestled on my sofa, wearing a comfy, and cute Hunter green co-ord jogger set with my cozy blanket, watching Magnolia Table while enjoying my Sunday morning coffee. I have had a really great, productive week, filled with work wins, and personal ones as well.
I dedicated the month of February to staying committed and consistent with my daily habits that truly enrich my life. I have been writing in my gratitude journal every morning and every night, doing my 2 daily 45 min workouts, hydrating plenty (with electrolytes), and listening to my daily self-development podcasts. I have also been continuing with my 75 Hard Challenge, as I am about a third of the way in. Looking forward to a day of football, rest, and to reset for the coming week.
I will be cleaning, decluttering my space, doing laundry, listening to a podcast, and enjoying a cozy Super Bowl Sunday watching the Eagles play the Chiefs, enjoying homemade queso and all the other yummy snacks I plan to make for today.
WHAT I DID THIS WEEK:
1. Cooked lots of comforting and delicious meals for myself, and for my family this week.
- Katsu curry with gochujang panko crusted tofu
- Edamame and cannelini bean hummus
- Baked rigatoni alla vodka
- Roasted jalapeno, garlic, & cumin whole wheat focaccia
- Vegetable fried rice
2. Embarked on a new exciting culinary project: I've started making my own sourdough starter from scratch. It's a bit intense, and there is a feeding schedule involved. I named my starter, Gilberto, and I have been discarding and then feeding him 60 AP flour and 60 g of water every night. There is something so satisfying about nurturing the natural fermentation process, and I can't wait to see Gilberto come to life in the form of rustic, homemade sourdough loaves. It's a slow, patient journey, but I am so here for it.
3. Organized and raided my own closet, and wore some cute fits that I seriously forgot were even in there. Think cute, chic black front slit, black knitted maxi skirt and cropped sweater set and an all black leather treanch coat cinched with a gold buckle detail belt that I am still dreaming of. It was giving Trinity from the Matrix. Isn't it incredible to rediscover your own wardrobe? Here's your sign to shop your own closet.
4. Been committed to my daily workouts and have been really leaning into my home workouts, focused on utilizing free weights and strength training. I find inspiration from so many great fitness influencers that I follow on instagram like @justtcocoo @dr.robinb @kayla_itsines @tarahschulte @briannajoye_fitness @sweatsandthecity @nicolemwinter @katb_fit. I am looking forward to discovering even more ways to tone, sculpt, and strengthen my body.
5. Have been leaning into movie and tv show nights with family. This week we enjoyed some comedy classics, because let's face it we could all use more belly laughs these days. We watched the Rush Hour movies, the Other Guys, and we started rewatching Silicon Valley-a personal fave of mine, and truly so hilarious.
READ + LOOK + LISTEN + WATCH + LOVE:
This book utilizes neuroscience and psychology along with ancient Buddhist wisdom to explore how we can cultivate lasting happiness, deep well-being, resilience, and enlightenment through 7 key practices of awakening. This book is really practical, and not just theoretical which is why I enjoyed it so much. Hanson provides essentially a roadmap for achieving deeper inner peace, emotional balance, and a sense of unity with the world.
Highly recommend for anyone seeking to grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
2. Considering solo travel? But don't know how or where to start?
If you have not done a solo trip yet, do it. Drop everything and book the trip of your dreams, wherever you want to go in this world, alone. I took my first solo trip to Paris in May, and what a dream it was. It exceeded my expectations and I got to do everything on my carefully planned out itinerary as well as things I happened to stumble upon while exploring that incredible city. I found solo travel to be really refreshing and just so incredibly fun. I think it is so important to jump out of your comfort zone and take a leap into the unknown.I embark every trip with a sense of wonder, curiosity, and zest to do whatever it is that will continue to bring me joy, which always involves some sort of travel and good food.
I hope to continue with more adventures that warm my soul, inspire me endlessly, and that leave footprints behind wherever I go. ✈️✌🏽
3. If you have not already listened to Bad Bunny's new album, what are you waiting for? More joy, more dancing, more fun? Bad Bunny’s new album, "DeBĂŤ TiRAR MáS FOToS", exudes a sultry, rebellious, and enigmatic mood that feels like a late-night drive through neon-lit streets with the windows down, in Puerto Rico. The vibe is unapologetically raw, blending playful irreverence with a touch of melancholy. It’s like the soundtrack to a love story that’s equal parts wild adventure and bittersweet longing. A beautifully poetic tribute and homage to his hometown of Puerto Rico, with so much raw, soulful emotion while he delves into themes such as cultural identity, gentrification, and the island's political landscape, offering a rich tapestry of sounds and messages that deeply resonate. It's a mood for when you want to feel everything all at once—joy, heartbreak, freedom, and nostalgia. It’s both a celebration and a catharsis, urging you to lose yourself in the music while also reflecting on the deeper layers of your soul.
Run, don't walk.
4. Looking for a dark comedy to watch? If you are in the mood for something twisted with morally ambiguous storytelling and razor-sharp wit and dialogue, No Good Deed on Netflix is the TV series, you didn't know you needed. The show stars an all-star cast with really great performances by Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano, Linda Cardellini, and Luke Wilson. It centers around three families vying for a dream home, only to discover that the idyllic Spanish-style villa comes with a haunted past and even darker secrets. It's quirky, dark, funny, suspenseful, and even poignant at times. What emerges is essentially a whodunnit in which revelations and plot twists appear; some hilarious, some highly sinister, and some deeply tragic.
5. They say that if you choose a goal, and you commit to doing that goal every day for 21 days then that goal should become a habit. And if you continue doing that goal for 90 days, it becomes a lifestyle change. I will be the first to admit that I have not yet reached 21 days of consistently writing in my little pink Gratitude Journal. And you know what? On the days that I did not prioritize this simple, yet deeply impactful daily practice into my routine, I noticed that I did not feel good. My thoughts would be predominantly negative, as well as my mindset on those missed days. So, if you are contemplating a life change, maybe the time to start is now? Because you know what? If you stick to it, in 21 days it will become a habit, and in 90 days, an improved lifestyle. Remember, nothing good in life comes without dedication and consistency.
And to hold you accountable? Immediately purchase this Gratitude Journal-it will easily be the best $10 you will ever spend, with the most profound, positive impact on your life. It is my current obsession that I am absolutely loving right now. You will thank me later.
